Straight Aviation Grade 65 Break-in Oil is a unique lubricant designed for a specific and necessary task prior to flight on a new or overhauled aviation engine: break-in. These oils are primarily consisting of pure and premium mineral oil and may contain certain additives to increase the flow rate of these petroleum-based fluids in cold or freezing weather.
Oils intended specifically for engine break-in are not recommended for in-flight or regular usage in aircraft. Generally, break-in oil is meant to be implemented for less than 25 hours for the sake of breaking in engines – these oils allow for minimum, desirable amounts of wear to occur, smoothing out internal engine components. They do, however, need to be drained and replaced with oils reserved for normal operation before flight.
